The Chittim White Ranches are
comprised of two South Texas ranches. The Dos
Chimeneas Ranch and The Picosa Creek Ranch.
The Dos
Chimeneas Ranch (6,000 acres) and the Picosa Creek
Ranch (6,000 acres) are part of the
Chittim Ranch which was 200,000 acres located in
Maverick County 140 miles southwest of San Antonio
and 20 miles east of Eagle Pass.
The Chimeneas
Creek and Picosa Creek watersheds traverse both of
these ranches and contain over 35 species of South
Texas brush that white-tailed deer thrive on.
The Chittim White Ranches
was established around the turn of the century by the
family of White's Mines, of the rock asphalt mining
family originating in Uvalde, Texas. This ranch is
listed on the National Register of Historic Places, and
is a wildlife-rich property in the Texas Hill Country.
The Chittim White
Ranches are professionally managed for White-tailed Deer
and Rio Grande Turkey by Bob Carroll. Bob worked 39
years as a wildlife biologist for the Texas Parks and
Wildlife Department in southern Texas and specialized in
white-tailed deer research and management.
The Chittim White Ranches are offering
a UNIQUE OPPORTUNITY FOR
HUNTERS. These ranches have been intensively
managed for trophy deer since 1994 and have been leased
by the same hunting groups for most of that time. Bucks
have been harvested on each of the ranches that have
made the Boone and Crockett Record Book.
The lease hunters on these
ranches have become very spoiled by the quality of buck
they can harvest and will not shoot bucks scoring less
than 150 B&C points. Maintaining 1 to 1 buck/doe ratios
and keeping the deer population in check requires
harvesting a significant number of buck and doe. This
has created a UNIQUE OPPORTUNITY for package
hunters to harvest bucks scoring less than 150 B & C
points.
A limited number of trophy
class bucks will be sold to package hunters each year.
Who better to guide you on these hunts than the lease
hunters. Harvesting a recommended number of buck that
score less than 150 gross points is the lease hunters
responsibility and is an important part of the harvest
strategy. The Chittim White Ranches have sold package
hunts on both ranches since 2004 and have
maintained a hunting success rate of better than 95%
while harvesting 20-25 packaged bucks annually. All
hunting is done from stands. None of the ranches are
totally high fenced. Some high fence exists on each
